One-on-One with Ex Jamat’e Islami Ameer of J&K
I go one-on-one with Muhammad Abdullah Wani, ex-Ameer (head) Jamat’e Islami Jammu and Kashmir. We talk about the ideology of Jamat’e Islami Kashmirm how is it different than Jamat’e Islami India, the role Jamat has played in Kashmir for the past six decades in socio-political spheres, and the future ahead. The interview was recorded in January 2018 at his residence in Srinagar. The Indian Government on 28th February 2019, banned the Jamat-e-Islami, for a period of 5 years. The government stated that this J&K based ‘outfit’ has the potential to disrupt the unity and integrity of the country. It was ‘banned’ under ‘unlawful association’ under Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
